International Star
The Navistar Truck Group is a leader in the commercial vehicle industry, producing ‘International’ brand apart from several others. The ‘International’ trucks, known for their sturdy demeanour and repute is now exclusively available in Oman through Towell Auto Centre. Globally International products, parts and services are sold through a network of nearly 1,000 dealer outlets in the United States, Canada, Brazil, and Mexico and more than 60 dealers in 90 countries throughout the world. Judged by a panel of journalists from leading truck publications in North America, the ‘International LoneStar’ was recently selected the inaugural ATD Commercial Truck of the Year based on a number of criteria, including design, innovation, cab quietness and space utilisation. It beat out the Freightliner Cascadia, Kenworth T660, Mack Titan, and Peterbilt Model 386. The new ‘International’ trucks are available through the various service centre of Towell Auto Centre across the country including Barka, Sohar, Nizwa, Ibri, Sur, Bani Bu Ali, Ibra, Salalah, Buraimi, in addition to Muscat at Athaiba, Wadi Kabir and Watayyah
 



Record Breaker
The Nissan GT-R, winner of the 2009 World Performance Car of the Year, has improved its lap time at the renowned Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit in Germany to 7min 26 seconds 70 on April 23. This new time underlines the Nissan engineering team’s commitment to constantly challenge the GT-R’s performance. Previous recorded lap times by the GT-R at the ‘Ring’ were:

7 minutes 27 seconds 56 on April 15, 2009
7 minutes 29 in April 2008
7 minutes 38 in September 2007

Known by enthusiasts as the GT-R, this latest model was first unveiled in Japan in December 2007, selling 5,900 units until March 2009. It went on sale in the US in July 2008, where 2,100 have been sold so far.
 



Safe Buy
The 2009 KIA Soul has aced the stringent Euro NCAP crash tests. Scoring a full five star rating, KIA has proved that the Soul can truly be a safe buy. The Euro NCAP consists of a number of tests consisting of a frontal impact, car-to-car side impact, pole side impact, pedestrian and whiplash protection tests. Aside from the pedestrian safety test, the Soul passed every test with top scores. The only risks of injury as tested were to the knees and femurs of the driver and passenger, in the frontal impact, and to the chest, in the pole test.
 



Drop Top
Following its global debut at the Detroit Motor Show earlier this year, the new BMW Z4 has made its much anticipated arrival in Oman. Driven by Performance
The Volkswagen Driven By Performance seven day event brought together more than 200 dealers, partners and the media from around the region to experience the Volkswagen brand and technologies at the Dubai

Autodrome recently. Through vehicle demonstrations, driving sessions and brand education, participants were exposed to the ultimate that the Volkswagen model range, services and innovative technologies has to offer at one of the most established race tracks in the Middle East. The event elements also enhanced the attendees’ knowledge and understanding of the Volkswagen brand, an opportunity for team building and better awareness of the different cars in the market.

In the driving sessions, participants were able to test drive the latest six Volkswagen cars launched in the Middle East region. These included the new Golf, the Scirocco, the Passat CC, the Tiguan, the Passat R36 and the Touareg V6.



Real Muscle
On Sunday the 10th May 2009, Oman witnessed the strength of the Real Muscle at Grand Hyatt Muscat. Astra trucks from Italy were launched in the fully packed Afrah Ballroom, Under the Patronage of HE Shk. Abdullah bin Salim Al Rawas, Minister of Regional Municipalities & Water Resources and in the presence
of His Excellencies, Italian Ambassador to Oman, VIPs and distinguished guests.
