Strokes of serenity
A spa massage is a
quick way to de-stress yourself producing both physical and
mental benefits for the soul and body, says Dev of Grand Spa
There is nothing like a soothing body massage to take away the
stress of modern working pressures. A body massage relieves
anxiety, lowers heightened blood pressure and unleashes your
body’s natural painkillers. Muscat has a number of reputed spa
centres, which offer various treatments for an improved
wellbeing, which will ultimately improve your daily working
efficiency.
A therapeutic massage relieves tension throughout the body as
the masseur will thoroughly pamper you with individual service
to help you relax and rejuvenate.
Some of the advantages of a massage are relief from neck,
shoulder and back pain; reduced stress, soreness and fatigue in
muscles; improved circulation; improved range of motion; deeper
sleep; enhanced mental alertness; re-energised body; stimulating
the lymphatic system which carries away body toxins; and over
all a great feel.
The Grand Spa at Bareeq Al Shatti has a catchline which says
that body massage is a journey of tranquility and calm through
magic touches. And the ‘journey’ lasts between 60-90 minutes, a
quick and perfect getaway from the humdrum of work.
Grand Spa has a variety of body treatments and the Ayurvedic
massage is the Indian style treatment, which is done with the
help of Ksheerabala Oil containing milk and extracts of herbal
tree roots known as bala.
Masseur Dev begins with the shoulders and then works on the feet
and toes with the oil. One begins to feel the difference in a
matter of minutes as the combination of the perfumed oil and the
skillful touch of fingers kneading your body at the pressure
points produce a feeling of wellness.
The strokes of the massage go in the direction of the blood flow
so that it warms up and flows more easily and energises the body
and releases the stress. The one-hour massage is divided into
front and back with each side getting half an hour each of
massage.
There are 109 pressure points located all over the body and when
pressure is applied through massage strokes the body stress is
relieved, says Dev, who specialises in Ayurvedic body treatment.
Dev advises that a person should go in for a spa treatment
atleast once every month to get rid of dry skin, skin wrinkles,
body pains and improve blood circulation and overall wellbeing.
