AL HASSAN ENGINEERING
Profits from large deals
After Raysut Cement, Al Hassan Engineering (AHEC) is one company that has really
moved up the chart. While a factor for its excellent performance has no doubt
been buoyant economic conditions, the company has also focused on streamlining
its operations to provide the required thrust on selected business areas. This
has proved beneficial to the operations and the excellent results are a
reflection of these significant steps.
The year 2006 saw the successful completion of some of the most prestigious
projects executed by AHEC–Oman Polypropylene Project, Shams Condensate
Facilities project, the first 220 kv powerline connection between Oman and UAE,
the Fahud–Lekhwair overhead line project of PDO and the construction and
installation of Qarn Alam Reverse Osmosis Plant of PDO.
Several large-value projects are under execution: The construction works for the
prestigious Qarn Alam and Mukhaizna Power Plant projects for PDO along with
BHEL; mechanical, electrical & instrumentation works for the 1,000 mw captive
power plant for the Sohar Aluminium Smelter; and, civil and structural/
mechanical/ piping works for certain packages of Sohar Aromatics.
The company is well placed to bid for large-value projects, which are expected
to come up in the coming years. The growth in the industrial project sector
would ensure healthy competition and availability of contracts at reasonable
margins in 2007 and beyond. It is also anticipated that 2007 shall see the start
of execution activities from AHEC, Abu Dhabi.

The company had adopted the policy of recruiting and training national manpower.
It has always adhered to the Omanisation laws as well as fulfilling the Omani
content and local community contracting. In recognition of this policy, the firm
has been awarded the Compliance Verification Certificate (CVC) from the Oman
Society for Petroleum Services (OPAL) as also the Green card of the Ministry of
Manpower.
